Jeremy Hanson Willis
Jeremy Hanson Willis, was appointed Chief Executive Officer for JustUs Health in April 2019 to build on the momentum which began with the merger integration between Minnesota AIDS Project and Rainbow Health Initiative. Jeremy will lead the agency through the development and implementation of a new strategic plan and advance the agency’s mission to lead the work to achieve health equity for diverse gender, sexual, and cultural communities.
Jeremy served previously as the Deputy Commissioner of Workforce Development for the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development between 2014 until his arrival at JustUs Health in 2019. More information about Jeremy is available here.
Rick Laska (Email)
Rick is the Director of Clinical Services for JustUs Behavioral Health. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist, as well as Certified Sex Therapist with a focus on issues related to human sexuality. Rick provides supervision for therapists-in-training as well as is responsible for behavioral health clinic operations.
He is a charismatic leader charged with delivering services to clients from a trauma-informed, attachment-based, risk-reduction, and sex-positive perspective. Rick lives in Minneapolis with his husband, Michael. More information about Rick is available here.
Asneth Omare (Email)
Asneth Omare, Director of Community Support Services, oversees and coordinates JustUs Health’s housing, financial assistance, insurance navigation, benefits counseling, and legal services programs. Asneth has worked at JustUs Health since 2014. She has more than 10 years leadership experience in the nonprofit/human services field and currently sits on several local boards including the Lazarus Project, Montessori Renaissance Academy, African World AIDS Day Committee, Minnesota HIV Housing Coalition and Minnesota HIV Strategy Advisory Board.
Asneth is a graduate of the Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University. Asneth is interested in issues relating to self-sufficiency, disparities and equal access especially for immigrants/minority and low-income families in Minnesota. When she is not at JustUs Health, Asneth enjoys cooking and spending time hanging out with her family and friends.
Matt Toburen (Email)
Matt Toburen, interim Director of Prevention and Care, oversees JustUs Health’s programs and services for those at risk of or affected by HIV. Matt also serves as Director of Public Policy, leading JustUs Health’s efforts in policy development, legislative lobbying and community organizing to stop new HIV infections and ensure all Minnesotans living with HIV live long and healthy lives.
He has held a variety of positions, including time as staff for the Minnesota Senate, managing political campaigns, and as a former United States Peace Corps Volunteer. Matt has worked as a lobbyist and political director for the Service Employees International Union. He holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. When not fighting to end AIDS, you can find Matt at home playing hide and seek with his wife and two daughters.
Phil Duran (Email)
Phil Duran, interim Director of Education and Research, oversees JustUs Health’s public education and research programs, including the recently integrated programs of Rainbow Health Initiative and Training to Serve. As an experienced attorney and civil rights advocate, Phil also assists our legal team with cases in the areas of trans health and human rights.
Phil spent 18 years as legal director at OutFront Minnesota. He has been a member of the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission and Transgender Issues Workgroup, and of Governor Mark Dayton’s Task Force on the Prevention of School Bullying. He was a founding board member of the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association and served as the first out president of the Minnesota State Bar Association, where he remains a member of its Health Law Section. In his spare time, he is an avid reader, lover of vintage photography and antiques.
